Defoaming agent for sewage treatment plants

GREIMIN STW

GREIMIN STW is a high-performance defoaming agent specifically formulated for effective foam control and foam prevention across a wide range of process waters and wastewaters. Based on a combination of higher alcohols, higher hydrocarbons, and fatty acid derivatives, it delivers outstanding long-term defoaming performance even under demanding operating conditions.

Supplied as a whitish to yellow liquid with a density of approximately 0.9 g/cm³, a viscosity of 500 to 1000 mPa·s, and a pH value of 5 to 7 (10% in water), GREIMIN STW is emulsifiable in water and can be used undiluted or as a diluted aqueous emulsion. The product or its emulsion should be stirred or shaken briefly immediately before use to ensure homogeneous distribution.

Its broad pH range compatibility ensures reliable and consistent foam suppression across highly diverse wastewater and process water compositions, including those arising from the processing of vegetable and animal substances. At normal dosage levels, GREIMIN STW has no adverse effect on biological activity in sewage treatment plants, making it a responsible and operationally safe choice for both mechanical and biological treatment stages.

For optimal results, GREIMIN STW should be introduced at a point of turbulent flow within the system. Dosing should always be carried out incrementally: add a small initial quantity, allow sufficient time for thorough distribution throughout the liquid, evaluate the achieved defoaming effect, and apply additional product only if required. Typical working concentration is 0.01 to 0.05%. Suitability and optimal dosage should always be determined by on-site trials under actual process conditions.

Application Examples

GREIMIN STW is the preferred defoaming solution for a broad range of industrial and municipal wastewater and process water treatment applications, where reliable long-term foam control is essential for process stability, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

In biological and mechanical sewage treatment plants, GREIMIN STW effectively controls foam regardless of the specific wastewater composition, ensuring uninterrupted plant operation without compromising the biological treatment process. Its formulation is largely independent of the type of wastewater being treated, making it a versatile and dependable choice for municipal and industrial treatment facilities alike.

In dairy and cheese production, GREIMIN STW delivers reliable foam suppression in highly organic, protein-rich effluents, where intensive biological activity and agitation frequently generate persistent foam that can disrupt aeration systems, impair sedimentation, and reduce overall treatment efficiency.

In paper and board manufacturing, GREIMIN STW provides consistent foam control at the size press and in wastewater treatment operations, supporting stable machine runnability and compliant effluent management.

Legal Information

GREIMIN STW may develop turbidity or sediment during extended storage. Neither condition affects product efficacy or dosing performance. Product viscosity is temperature-dependent. GREIMIN STW is not frost-sensitive and can be returned to its original state at any time by stirring, pumping, or gentle warming. Stored in sealed original containers under normal temperature conditions between +5°C and +30°C, GREIMIN STW has a shelf life of at least one year.
