Its amphoteric character enables it to behave as either an acid or a base depending on the pH conditions in the drum, giving it a unique affinity for both densely structured and loosely fibered areas of the hide and ensuring a more uniform interaction with the leather substrate than conventional anionic or cationic syntans alone.

GREIBOTAN GA imparts a full, rounded handle and significantly improves grain tightness across the full hide surface. At the same time, it promotes even and uniform absorption of other retanning agents in the loosely structured areas of the leather, such as belly and flank zones, where uneven uptake of chemicals is a common cause of inconsistent fullness, grain quality, and dyeing levelness in the finished leather.

GREIBOTAN GA additionally improves the evenness of the milling grain, producing a more uniform and well-defined pebble pattern across the entire hide, which is particularly important for milled leather applications in garments, upholstery, and leather goods.
