Emulsifier for waterproof leather and articles
GREIBOSOL WPI
Product Description
GREIBOSOL WPI is a specialised emulsifier developed specifically for the production of waterproof leather and waterproof leather articles. The product is based on a combination of synthetic fatty substances and specially selected emulsifiers, united through a dedicated emulsifying procedure. This composition enables GREIBOSOL WPI to be applied at every stage of the wet-end process.
GREIBOSOL WPI acts as a dispersing agent, significantly enhancing the water resistance of leather by promoting the uniform distribution of waterproofing fatliquors throughout the full cross-section of the hide. The penetration of all chemicals applied alongside it is optimised accordingly, ensuring consistent and thorough fatliquoring results.
The product demonstrates stability in the presence of mineral tanning salts and hard water, allowing its use under a wide range of processing conditions. This versatility makes GREIBOSOL WPI a reliable component within varied tannery liquor systems.
In addition, GREIBOSOL WPI improves the wetting-back of crust leathers, with particular benefit for waterproof crust leathers, making it a valuable auxiliary in both primary processing and secondary finishing operations.

Application Examples
GREIBOSOL WPI is recommended for application during the neutralisation stage of the wet-end process. At this point, the product acts most effectively as a dispersing agent, conditioning the leather for the subsequent application of waterproofing fatliquors and ensuring optimal distribution throughout the cross-section.
When incorporating GREIBOSOL WPI into the process, it is important to observe the recommended dosage carefully, as excessive application rates may result in a loosening of the grain layer. Prior trials are advisable to establish optimum dosage for each specific article and process combination.
GREIBOSOL WPI may be diluted into water at 60 °C with continuous stirring prior to addition to the float. Alternatively, the product may be added directly to the float without prior dilution, providing a convenient and time-efficient option for tannery operations.
Please note: GREIBOSOL WPI is not stable in chrome tanning liquors or in the presence of aluminium salts. Application in such liquor systems must therefore be avoided.
