Fatliquoring agent for light leathers

GREIBOSOL SLM

GREIBOSOL SLM is a high-concentration sulphated fatliquor based on a mixture of natural fatty substances, specifically developed for light leathers across a broad range of applications and colour requirements. Supplied as a dark-brown oil at an active substance concentration of approximately 85%, it delivers an exceptionally pleasant, soft, and silky feel comparable to the handle of quality clothing leather, making it suitable for use across all colours without risk of adverse effects on dyeing.

Leathers treated with GREIBOSOL SLM are characterised by outstanding softness combined with a firm, tight grain structure that is particularly well suited to milling, where the even and thorough lubrication of the fibre structure supports consistent and well-defined milling grain development across the full hide. The excellent exhaustion of the offered fatliquoring quantity ensures that virtually all applied fatliquor is fixed within the leather structure, contributing to both process efficiency and a clean effluent.

On velour leathers, GREIBOSOL SLM produces a distinct, attractive gloss that significantly enhances the surface quality and visual appearance of the finished article. The product also guarantees very good dry folding quality, a particularly critical performance parameter for small skins such as goat, sheep, and lamb, where resistance to grain cracking and surface damage during folding and further processing is essential.

GREIBOSOL SLM can be added to the float undiluted. When used in combination with other anionic agents, all components should be homogeneously blended before preparing the emulsion by diluting with water at 60°C under stirring. The finished leather is fully compatible with all standard finishes.

Application Examples

GREIBOSOL SLM is the preferred sulphated natural fatliquor for light leather production wherever a silky, clothing-like handle, firm grain, reliable milling performance, and excellent dry folding quality are the defining quality requirements.
For light upper leathers, nappa, and garment leathers, GREIBOSOL SLM delivers the characteristic soft, silky feel and firm grain that define the quality of premium light leather articles across all colour ranges, from deep, saturated shades to delicate natural and pastel tones, where colour integrity and surface quality are paramount.
In the production of milled leathers, GREIBOSOL SLM supports consistent and even milling grain development through its thorough and even lubrication of the collagen fibre structure, contributing to a well-defined, uniform pebble pattern across the full hide and reducing quality variation between dense and loosely structured areas.
For velour leathers, GREIBOSOL SLM provides the characteristic distinct gloss that distinguishes premium velour articles in footwear, accessories, and fashion applications, where surface appearance and tactile quality are equally critical to commercial success.
For small skins such as goat, sheep, and lamb, GREIBOSOL SLM delivers the very good dry folding quality that is essential for preventing grain cracking and surface damage during the folding, cutting, and sewing operations of small skin leather goods production.
