GREIBOSOL SAF 60
GREIBOSOL SAF 60 is a universal anionic fatliquor based on sulphochlorinated long-chain paraffins, specifically formulated for use on all types of leather and fur. Its high fastness profile and outstanding chemical versatility make it one of the most flexible fatliquoring agents available, suitable for use across the full range of leather types, production stages, and fatliquor combination systems.
GREIBOSOL SAF 60 forms fine-particle, highly stable emulsions when diluted with warm or cold water. These emulsions are resistant to water hardness, acids, and bases, as well as to vegetable, synthetic, and to a large extent mineral tanning agents, ensuring reliable emulsion stability under the diverse chemical conditions encountered throughout the wet-end process. GREIBOSOL SAF 60 can be used in chrome tanning and is compatible with all standard anionic retanning agents, dyes, and fatliquors.
A particularly distinctive capability of GREIBOSOL SAF 60 is its exceptional emulsifying power. It can disperse up to 100% of its own weight of mineral oil and up to 50% of its own weight of natural fats and oils to form stable emulsions. This makes it an invaluable base component for the preparation of custom combination fatliquors, enabling the integration of otherwise difficult-to-emulsify components into stable, finely dispersed fatliquor systems.
GREIBOSOL SAF 60 contains no saponifiable ingredients. This prevents any risk of fatty spew — it significantly reduces it and can eliminate it entirely — and ensures that the fatliquor components remain permanently anchored within the leather fibre structure without migrating to the surface over time. Its excellent light fastness makes it specifically suitable for white and pale leathers, where resistance to yellowing and colour change are essential quality requirements.
GREIBOSOL SAF 60 can be combined not only with other anionic fatliquors and natural oils but also as the anionic component in combination fatliquors containing cationic fatliquoring agents. When producing combination fatliquors, the cationic proportion should not exceed the anionic proportion. Combination fatliquors can be prepared either by blending the undiluted individual components before diluting with hot water, or by mixing the separately prepared anionic and cationic emulsions.
Before addition to the drum, GREIBOSOL SAF 60 is emulsified with warm water in a ratio of 1:1 to 1:2 and can then be further diluted as required.

For the preparation of custom combination fatliquors, GREIBOSOL SAF 60 serves as a powerful emulsifying base, enabling the stable integration of mineral oils at up to 100% of its own weight and natural fats and oils at up to 50% of its own weight into finely dispersed, process-stable emulsions. As the anionic component in combination fatliquor systems, GREIBOSOL SAF 60 provides the emulsion stability and light fastness of a synthetic base while supporting the softness and handle contributions of the combined natural or cationic components.
Legal Information
GREIBOSOL SAF 60 has a shelf life of approximately one year when stored in its tightly sealed original packaging at temperatures between 0°C and 50°C. Drums should be tightly resealed each time material is taken from them and their contents used up as soon as possible after opening. Stir thoroughly before use.
