GREIBOSOL PPN
GREIBOSOL PPN is a high-performance synthetic anionic fatliquor based on sulphonated components, developed for pre-fatliquoring applications in the pickle and chrome tanning bath and for partial use in the main fatliquoring process. As the higher-concentration counterpart to GREIBOSOL NPN, GREIBOSOL PPN contains approximately 10% more mineral oil at a correspondingly lower water content, delivering a more concentrated, additive-free formulation that is particularly well suited for tanneries where a pure fatliquor without any stabilising additives is required.
The defining performance characteristic of GREIBOSOL PPN is its excellent dispersing power, which actively supports the even distribution and thorough uptake of all other fatliquoring agents in the combination system throughout the full leather cross-section, ensuring that the complete fatliquor combination achieves consistent and uniform results across the entire hide.
Its excellent light fastness and excellent heat resistance make GREIBOSOL PPN the preferred choice wherever long-term colour and handle stability under light and heat exposure are non-negotiable quality requirements, including automotive upholstery, high-end furniture leather, and premium fashion leather applications.
When used as a partial component in the main fatliquoring process, GREIBOSOL PPN contributes additional softness and a very fine, refined handle to the finished leather. Its particular suitability for wetting back after crusting — for example in the production of nappa for upholstery — makes it a versatile processing aid beyond the standard pre-fatliquoring application.
GREIBOSOL PPN is completely free from AOX and contains no stabilising additives, making it the preferred choice for tanneries that require a pure, additive-free fatliquor formulation at the highest active substance level. It can be added undiluted directly to the bath, or diluted with water between 20°C and 60°C to form a fine dispersed emulsion.

In pre-fatliquoring within the pickle and chrome tanning bath, GREIBOSOL PPN ensures even early-stage distribution of fatliquoring components throughout the hide structure across all raw material types — cattle hides, small skins, and pig skins alike — at a dosage of 1 to 3% on pelt weight. Its higher mineral oil concentration supports a particularly effective dispersing action and thorough distribution of the fatliquor combination throughout the leather cross-section.
As a dispersing component in multi-component fatliquor combinations, GREIBOSOL PPN enhances the distribution and uptake of the accompanying fatliquoring agents, enabling the complete fatliquor system to develop its full performance potential and deliver consistent, uniform softness and handle across the entire hide.
For wetting back operations after crusting, GREIBOSOL PPN is particularly well suited for nappa leather intended for upholstery applications, where its excellent dispersing properties support thorough and even rehydration of the dried leather structure and reliable redistribution of fatliquor components prior to finishing.
The offer level lies between 1 – 3 % based on pell weight and applies equally to cattle hide, small skins and pig skins.
