Fatliquoring agent
GREIBOSOL HPI
GREIBOSOL HPI is a specialised fatliquor based on a combination of sulphited synthetic fats, polymeric components, and emulsifiers, developed for the production of water-resistant and soft leathers from chrome-tanned and combination-tanned stock.
GREIBOSOL HPI delivers very good softening properties combined with a silky, smooth handle, making it suitable for a broad range of soft leather applications. Its very good light fastness makes it equally well suited for white and pastel shade leathers, where resistance to yellowing and colour change are essential. On suede leathers, GREIBOSOL HPI produces an attractive natural lustre that enhances the surface quality of the finished article.
Applied in a suitable process, GREIBOSOL HPI results in good water resistance in the finished leather. The best water-resistant effects are achieved by subsequent treatment with a suitable cationic capping agent such as chromium sulphate, applied in a fresh bath. This two-stage approach of fatliquoring with GREIBOSOL HPI followed by cationic capping delivers reliable and durable water resistance without compromising the softness and handle of the leather.
GREIBOSOL HPI can be combined with other anionic and non-ionic fatliquoring agents, though depending on the specific article and requirements, additional fatliquoring agents may not be necessary. Please note: GREIBOSOL HPI is not stable in chrome tanning floats and should not be applied at this stage of the process. The product is diluted by stirring water at 60°C into the product prior to application.

Application Examples
GREIBOSOL HPI is the preferred fatliquor wherever a combination of water resistance, softness, silky handle, and light fastness are the defining quality requirements across a range of chrome-tanned and combination-tanned leather articles.
For water-resistant leathers in footwear and outdoor applications, GREIBOSOL HPI is applied in the fatliquoring stage, followed by cationic capping with chromium sulphate in a fresh bath to fix the water-repellent fatliquor components within the leather structure. This process delivers a durable water-resistant effect that withstands the demands of outdoor use while maintaining the softness and silky surface feel of the leather.
For white and pastel shade leathers requiring reliable protection against yellowing, GREIBOSOL HPI provides the combination of very good light fastness and soft, smooth handle that are critical for these colour-sensitive articles in footwear, accessories, and upholstery applications.
On suede and nubuck leathers, GREIBOSOL HPI contributes an attractive natural lustre and consistent surface quality, making it a valuable component in the fatliquoring recipe for buffed and velour leather articles where surface appearance is as important as softness and handle.
